: Has anyone found a way to increase the front neg. camber in the Mroadster/Mcoupe? Can exchanging the strut bearing tops effect this? If so what are the final numbers? Thx.

BMW has a camber correction bolt service part available for +/- 0.5 degree camber change; was initiated to address wandering front end issues on vehicles having more camber on one side than the other (official BMW procedure actually calls for decreasing negative camber to match the lesser side, just happens to increase it in opposite direction too). Applicable to *all* 92+ E36 and Z series vehicles; they all use the same front strut upper bolt. Use BMW part # 07-11-9-900-587, need qty of 2 per vehicle. Should also replace nut, BMW part # 07-12-9-964-661, qty of 2. Total cost for all is under $5 list. Difference between this bolt and stock is elimination of a machined shoulder, allowing *slop* between strut and spindle upper mounting hole which in turn allows spindle to be tilted relative to strut.

Procedure is to loosen bottom two strut/spindle bolts so there is 1/8" clearance. Remove top strut/spindle bolt and replace with service part. Push and hold spindle all the way in for max negative camber while tightening replacement bolt to 120 ft/lb. Then tighten two bottom bolts back to 90 ft/lb. You'll need to realign afterward because camber change will also create a toe change; recommend setting toe to 0 - 1/16" (0 - 0.12 deg) out per side for max turn-in without excessive wear; this is an autox/street setting, not recommended for very high speeds. Use slight toe-in for high speeds. Also recommend checking periodically to ensure bolt doesn't slip due to cornering stresses trying to decamber spindle setting.
