That annoying ASC (archive)

After a little over a week in my new 99 MZ3 I've noticed that I don't like the ASC at all.

ASC won't let me accelerate hard in a curve. I first noticed this on a wide sweeping freeway clover leaf onramp. If felt slow, like something was wrong with it but immediately cleared up once past the curve. It reminded me of a long turbo lag (for anybody familiar with the original Saab 900 turbo).

I continued to loop all four entry/exit loops until my stomach couldn't take it anymore. I concluded that I am not near a slip when the ASC kicks in and spoils my party. With ASC disabled, the car accelerates hard and controlled out of the curve without any tire noise. Just like it should.

I don't like involuntary oversteer so I prefer to keep ASC enabled but it takes some fun out of driving the car.

I can't help but ask:

Is this a wet road only feature?
Is my experience typical?
Do most of you routinely disable ASC?
Could this just be defect in my unit?
