I've already cast my vote for the 1.9 and the M3, but I thought I might suggest this. If you can wait, the new M3 will be out before the end of this year ( I think) when it comes out the prices on the used ones will drop (probably), especially if it has a more powerful engine which it is bound to have. Look at how the prices for the 1.9L Z3s dropped when the 2.3 came out. If the prices of the M3 do drop, you could then maybe afford a '97 and get some goodies like dual zone climate control and standard traction control, and if it turns out you can afford a '98 or '99 you could get one with DOUBLE VANOS (I'm not sure which year this was put in the engines). But then again if you are buying a '98 or '99, you might as well go the extra mile (a few dollars more a month) and buy the new, bigger, better, more powerful, 2000 model, which will have standard side impact airbags and head protection system, not to mention better resale value. Some things to think about. Good luck once again.
