CCA is more than just driving schools. Most chapters have a whole range of events that will let you drive your car, from autocrosses to TSD rallys to tours. There's usually a bunch of social events too, such as concours and picnics, monthly meetings with speakers and so on. Top that off with the great Roundel magazine, the chapter newsletter and the dealer discounts, and I think there's a lot of value for the money!

And, if your chapter doesn't do all these things, maybe you could get involved and help organize a few!

BTW, I agree wholeheartedly with you about chopping up the car with a bar and harnesses for driving schools. If you have another car, why not take that instead? You'll still learn a lot, and have a lot of fun. Most chapters don't exclude non-BMWs, so you should be able to get in even if your other ride's not a BMW.

<< So I ask, what does my 35 bucks do for me?
the magazine is nice, but not worth $35 the local newsletter is slick, but tells of all the events I can't attend because I bought a roadster.>>
