Do the math. How much is that ticket going to cost in fines? Only $50-250. But how much is that ticket going to cost you in increased insurance? 0 (if they don't find out about it) to
several *grand* over the course of several years in raised fees. At only $400, get the best. I loved the convience of my Solo, esp. for airport rental cars, but the *TOTAL* cost of just 1 modest ticket will generally be more than the cost of the V1. It's not a license to speed and doesn't replace being aware of the road, but it doesn't hurt. Last sunday on CA Hwy 35, I was coming out of a turn onto a straight. I was just about to goose it a little when my V1 lit up like a Christmas tree. Sheriff's car with Instant On K-band. Since my exit speed on the corner was legal, I never gave him an excuse to hassle me. Ran Solo and V1 side by side, V1 usually picked it up from twice the distance and didn't give me the lumberyard/shopping center falses my Solo did.
Now, those falses can be useful. I once used my Solo in a friends car to find a Bank hidden behind landscaping many years ago :-)
