Back when I ordered my MZ3 I had my company added to the BMW Corporate Sales Program.
After a really long wait, I finally took delivery of the car two weeks ago and requested the rebate forms the next day. The forms didn't come so I issued a second request today and they informed me that as of today, April 1, 1999 they have removed my company from the list and I was no longer able to request a rebate. No additional explaination was offered. Simply that I could not receive the rebate. I was waiting for them to say April Fools. They didn't.
BMW refuses to honor the rebate and their consumer complaint department told me to take it up with my salesman. Can you believe that, the salesman never even knew the Corporate Sales Program existed.
I'm really surprised that a company who calls me to ensure that I am satisfied with my 'sales experience' would treat me like this. I seems that they don't want/need my business.
I think this classifies as false advertising. I didn't order my car until I had successfully added my company to the Corporate Sales Program which offered the rebate. Once I purchased the car, BMW retracted their rebate offer. This should be good enough for small claims court but unless I am reimbursed for my time it is hardly worth the battle.
So, two weeks of BMW ownership and I'm already considering small claims court. After all the bashing of American car companies, at least they have customer service. I've never had an experience like this with any of my 7 other new vehicle purchases.
