Look at it this way. The dealer now has $425 fewer dollars to play with. Since the price of the car has gone up the customer is less inclined to buy or will buy with fewer options which also means less dealer profit.
If the dealer can sell at MSRP he just made $425 less than the same deal last year.
For a dealer who will only deal down from MSRP, the customer is going to pay $425 more for the car. Same thing for a dealer who adds a fixed amount for profit to his invoice cost.
Like I said, BMW wins, the rest of us lose.
