: Hot off the wire are the prices for the 2000 Model Year Z3 roadsters and coupe and the M roadster and coupe. I have included 1999 Model Year pricing as a reference so that you may make any price comparisons you wish. Please remember that not all options are available on all models and that many of the options are standard equipment on the 2.8 and M models.

: It is interesting to note that BMW has increased the dealer invoice prices significantly more than the base MSRP pricing. BMW NA has also raised the invoice price of literally every option while keeping the MSRP for the option the same as last year. The increase in the MSRP for the 2.3 is $1,350 but the increase in the dealer invoice price is a whopping $1,775 or some $425 more than the increase in the MSRP. From my perspective this represents a price increase in the base invoice price of 6.68 per cent. Anybody want to bet that there are thousands of customers and 375 BMW dealers a wee bit unhappy this week?

: In my mind the only justification for the price increase is the lined top in the roadsters and the addition of DSC III to all models except the M roadster and coupe. While the 2.3 is to have an "upgraded" stereo I wonder what this will amount to as the 2.3 still has the HK available as a $675 extra cost option.

: The real significance of the new pricing is that my well equipped 2000 MY 2.3 is going to cost some $1,870 more than the identically equipped '99 I did not buy last year. Now I am beginning to wonder if I did the right thing by waiting.
