: Thanks to Fred, we all have the final breakdown of the new Z's pricing. Understandably, many of us who've ordered are a little upset. Here's a perspective:

: I'm sort of looking at this as a correction, to put it in stock market terms. Sure, Z3s were already expensive toys. However, in the past, they've clearly been the bargain of the higher end roadster market. I'm sure I'm not alone in my amazement that I've found myself in the market for such a distinctive car -- a BMW, no less! Frankly, my budget probably leans closer to the Miata range, rather than the German offerings.

: But there's that Z3. It calls me. Its price forces me to eat sandwiches for lunch three days a week, but in the end, I know they'll taste better than any meal I might have had at a restaurant with a Miata in the parking lot.

: With this strong appeal in mind, it's not too surprising that the Z3 is moving up in price. It's a correction. It's a step up for a car that has actually been underpriced for a couple of years. I'm just thankful it's still within my range.

: You still get a lot of car for this amount of money. And the head-turning, thumbs-up, envy appeal value is still way above this car's price increases.
