Since the 1.9 hasn't been in production for a year now, it's not surprising that not many have been sold...there aren't that many left and who would buy one when you can get a newer model with a larger engine for the same price? My guess is that they will have to significantly discount the few that remain on the lots...a good deal for someone who like the idea of a perfectly balanced sports car instead of the heavier, less poised GT cars that the newer models have become.
As for dropping the 2.8, I don't think that's going to happen. The lost 2.8 sales would not necessarily translate into //M sales. In fact, what's going to happen is that the 2.8 will be replaced with the new 210 hp 3.0 and the 3.4 with the new 300 hp six currently being developed for the next generation M3. This will give a great deal more differentiation between the models...170-210-300. Alas, I'll still miss the 1.9, as much as I like the //M, it's not my idea of a sports car. Guess I'll have to move to Europe or go with the new S2000 Honda...
