Mercedes supercharged their 2.3 L 4 for the SLK with an Eaton Model 62 (the same unit as Sebring). However, in order to accomodate that supercharger they used stronger and heat resistant pistons, dropped the compression ratio to 8.8 to 1, used sodium filled exhaust valves, strenghtened the block by ribbing, increased the cooling around the combustion chamber and cylinder and designed the ignition and induction systems with the supercharger in mind. Most important, they included an intercooler. We've driven ours for the better part of 2 years with no driveability or detonation problems.
Sebring offers none of the above features.
You might want to query Karl on some of his installation issues, but the BEGI appears the superior alternative.
