Now that you have already messed the paint up , just grab that little sucker with your pliers and pull it out ( a new plug is only about a buck). Then follow the rest of the procedure. It is not glued in but the fit is REALLY tight. I was able to get one of mine out without buggering it up, but the other one was a total disaster. Also, use touch-up paint to repair the damage, you can Langka it if you are anal about how it looks.
