empty slots below subwoofer in M (archive)

Does anybody know what the empty slots are for below the subwoofer in the ///M? The middle slot is used for the rear defogger button for the hardtop - anyone know what the others may be used for in the future? Are these just for modifications or does BMW have plans for these spaces. Just curious. thanks tim.
