Actually, there is also an overflow tube going from the top of the battery to a point near the right rear wheel.

I filled to the bottom of the filler holes (I had plates showing), and ended up with a puddle of water/sulphuric on my garage floor (not much). I wiped it up. The next day, however, there was an even bigger puddle, with much more acid in it (ate away at the floor!).

So, be careful and don't fill to the bottom of the filler holes. Stop somewhere before that point.
