I chose the automatic for commuting and safety reasons. As much as I hate people using cell phones while driving, I often have to do the same. I figured that the automatic would be safer for me and other drivers when I use the phone. Hell, BMW's transmission, and the in-line six, make for a great sports car experience even without the stick!

: This was a difficult one... but finally I choose the auto gearbox on my new Z3. Because it will be my daily commuter and I drive some 35K kilometers per year. I know most of the people on this board will say I give up one of the basics of a sports car, but hey guys, how many of you ordered cruise control (?). I know that this adds a lot of comfort on those long and boring highway drives in the US, same to me for the auto box in the daily stop and go traffic.

: The choice was simple. Stay with my BMW 525 as daily commuter and have the Z3 MANUAL in the garage for fun. Or pass the 525 to my wife and drive the Z3 all the time. But then I knew I had to give up the manual.

: BTW who else is using it's Z3 as daily car. Auto or manual?
