Fred, if you say it was Olds not Buick I'll take your word for it (I was going by what an elderly relative who had a Dynaflow once told me). I read something about that Chrysler long ago but was thinking it was an electric or vacuum shift contraption of some sort, not a true slushbox.

: slushbox almost 10 years before Buick came up with the Dynaflow. I am not absolutely positive, but I believe Olds had their first automatic in 1939. Chrysler and a semi-automatic in 1946 if not earlier.

: Buick started around 48 or 49 as I recall.
