kind of car. I think it looks cool but it would have looked even better if they'd done true retro headlights instead of those alien slanty looking things. The "love it's" out there make it a cinch the car will be impossible to get for "under $20K" when they first come out--they will likely be going WAY above that first, like New Beetles did. People will be paying very high prices for a platform that's about as cheap as they come (my employer has some pool Neons -- they're acceptable I guess for a $12K car but a retro body will not make it worth 2X+ that IMO!)
: I know how a lot of message board respondents have a disdain for SUV's, and I also know that Z & M roadsters & Coupes just don't cut-it as a primary vehicle. I think I've found the perfect 2nd car alternative.
: A new model by Chrysler that was a former concept car and will be available early 2000 as a 2001 model year.
: PT Cruiser (PT stands for personal transportation).
: It's based on the Dodge/Plymouth Neon platform, so it's not a HOG or GAS GUZZLER, but looks very versatile and is super RETRO.
: Comes with a new 2.4L 16 valve 4cyl in auto or 5spd. I think it will be aprox 167hp with avg 26mpg & less than $20K.
: I'm thinking about getting rid of my GMC Jimmy & picking one up for my daily driver.
