We just ran into the same problem. We have a '97 2.8 with the windscreen that does not fold down. The best solution we have found is this: We un-hook the bottom tabs on the windscreen, pull the seats forward, fold the boot cover as indicated and push it under the windscreen into the area the top fills when it is down. There is still good visibility through the rear window. I don't know if this will work with the roll hoops. Andyou were right. This is serious stuff.
