: So, enjoy the car but learn to drive it before you push it. Don't let some jerk push you into doing something stupid. Just drive on by the stupid jerk, with that ear to ear grin only your roadster can give.

I'll echo Lester's sentiments. It is SO EASY to do something stupid at 17. It is especially easy with the temptation of a Z3. I'm 38 and my M roadster is a challenge to my maturity now and then. But the hallmark of a real "driver" is not only having the skills, but the wisdom of when and where to display them.
Some of your peers may behave as young male jackasses and chide you into doing dumb stuff. Tell them you'll go one on one with them at the next autocross, in front of a lot of superior drivers who take fast driving seriously - and drive very fast.
Of course you've been coming to "us" for advice - obviously you're quite intelligent when it comes to advice! :)
