This worked for me - I also tried to find metric rod couplers in the Western NY area with no sucess. Found 8mm x 1.25 tap at local Pep Boys for $3.59. had intended to buy aluminum bar stock and make my own. With further trials found that I could "chase" thread of 5/16NC nut with this tap and was then able to fully torque nut onto a 8mm x 1.25 bolt. Found 5/16 x ~3/4" rod couplers at local hardware store for $.75 each and then followed install as per MZ3 net.
So far after 1500 miles, including 100+ miles on track at driving school this past weekend, the modification is fine. Makes a HUGE difference on how standard seat holds you in place.
