: : can i put anything larger than 16 inch wheels on my 99 2.8. if so, will it hinder or help with handling/performance?

: : thanks

You can easily fit 17 inch wheels without any problem, they are infact an option on the 2.8 with the wider rear wings.

However, 17 inch wheels with 225/45Z17 front and 235/40Z17 rear tyres can be fitted - I have them on my car which is a 1.9.

I have fitted TSW Imola wheels which I prefer over the BMW options. I have some digital pictures but sorry I dont know how to send it with this.

The wheel and tyre combination gives realy good grip, but there is always a cost and that is an increase in ride harshness - but what the heck it goes round corners like a train.

With regards to bigger wheels you should also be able to fit 18 inch wheels which will mean a tyre of 225/40Z18 F or 235(or 245)/35Z18 rear. As long as you reduce the profile of the tyre (that's the /40 part of the size and means the tyre height is 40% or 35% or 45% or whatever % of the tyres width)you will always be able to maintain the diamiter of the wheel/tyre combination regardless of the wheel diamiter.

Hope you sort it out.
