: : The recent JD Power survey showed that mercs and BMWs were a long way off having the lowest faults in the business. Seem to remember mercs were distinctly average and the BMWs miles behind the Jags and Japanese cars.

: JD Power is purely subjective as it's based on opinions of owners.

: Better to look at fleet management figures. The sort of figures that companies like Renault/Nissan wish to ban from publication. so if it's subjective, then those who buy a BMW or Merc or Lexus would expect them to be completely fault-free, and would report all problems, no matter how small. Whereas, for those who've bought Korean cars, Fords or Jags would tolerate more faults with the cars and would not report every fault to the surveyors.

Sounds like a rather unreliable survey to me; just like those surveys that show how many cars needed to go back to the dealer for fixes. Yes, we get the same silly surveys here in Australia too.
