I'm just wondering if the car was 'unwanted' by someone else because the first 400 miles had so-many (warranty covered) problems. Thats all. It was not uncommon for the R&T to lose the car a week at a time ( 3 weeks total if I remember correctly) because it was "waiting for parts".
: : R&T published service history on their long term Boxter (3/4 months ago) and the Boxter was a bigtime nightmare. They even doubted if a loyal Porsche-phile could endure the frequency/duration of the service visits. You may want think more about this, especially because your not buying from a Porsche dealer and this used car (400 miles) is a little suspicous(sp?) to say the least.
: : Steve I DISAGRE HE WOULD BE OK UNTIL IT HIT THE 12,000 MARK :)
: : : Hello!
: : : I am NOT trying to start a flame war here, but I really do need some advise.
: : : I currently have a '96 1.9 Z3. I was at the dealer the other day, and they got in a 1999 Boxster (<400 miles on it + optional sport package!). Well, stupidily, I drove it.. and... the dealer has offered a trade of my car + ~22k.
: : : I really like my BMW, but, I also love Porsche (I used to drive a 911 C2). I am torn as to what do to. I have spent a considerable amount of money on my vehicle for "upgrades" (ie chrome, cd changer, etc.), and realize that while the dealer is definitely NOT giving me top dollar for my Z, the reality is that it mine IS a '96, and he would be giving me a hell of a deal towards the Boxster.
: : : I really do need some help. I know both cars are great. I just need some *helpful* advice.
: : : So, in all seriousness (no Porsche sucks comments please), what do you think of this deal?
: : : Thanks!
