While I like the 1.9 (i own one with mods), buying one with an auto is like kissing your sister. The 1.9 performs well at high revs but only with the stick. You lose hp with the automatic. I don't think you'll be happy with the auto. A stick is easy to learn and much more fun.

: Hi,
: I'm considering purchasing a 1996 or 1997 1.9L Z3 with the following options:
: Automatic transmission, leather seats, roll bar (if '97), heated seats, and traction control, with preferably low mileage.

: I live in Virginia, in the Washington, D.C. area. Does anyone have any recommendations on what a reasonable price would be, how important getting a 'Certified' vehicle is, and any problems with the 96 or 97 that I should watch out for?

: Thanks,

: Peter L.
