We here in The People's Republic of New Jersey are actually quite proud of most of the Garden State.
Forget the Turnpike. Ignore Newark. There is no Camden.
Island Beach. Delaware Water Gap. The Pine Barrens. Cape May. That's New Jersey. New Jersey has the highest ratio of protected State and Federal parklands to total area than any other state.
I live in the rolling farmlands of Sussex county where there are wonderful roads, perfect for driving. (I can't imagine living in a state where all the roads are straight and flat.) There are annoyances of course, deer in the backyard munching on the plants, black bears in the front yard stealing birdseed, but we put up with it.
OK, maybe we talk funny and don't know how to pump our own gas, but we're really not all that bad!
