I don't use it much, only if I know the weather will be great for couple of days.

First, make sure the boot cover is position fully forward. The flaps on the inside of the forward snaps should be tucked between the roof beams and the body structure.

Second, curl your arm around so that it comes in straight from the back rather than trying to come in diagonally while reaching the snap.

I've been thinking of getting a thick dowel (broom handle maybe if it's not too thick) and drilling the end to fit over the snap. The biggest problem for me is getting my arm under the boot cover without disturbing the position.
