The standard european 250 km/h limiter isn't the only one.

I think most of the U.S. lineup of BMWs (including the M cars) has substantially lower limits than that. For example, the Z3 2.8 is limited to 129 mph, or about 205 km/h, but it can supposedly do 135 w/o. Thanks to the U.S.'s litigiousness (and the willingness of U.S. buyers to fit lower rated tires) the US market is rife with such chiselling
