Ming,

You have to understand what each one does. Not just that one is continuous and one is on/off. They are NOT changing even remotely the same thing.

All VANOS does is SLIGHTLY rotate your camshafts to increase or retard the camshafts timing. Thats it.. nothing more.

What VTECH does is literally give you two different intake and exhaust camshafts inside your engine. One that has it's lift, duration and overlap setup for low speed operation and another camshaft which is optimized for high RPM operation.

VANOS would just be like slightly twisting your cams while you are driving... it doesn't effect lift or duration at all. VTECH is like literally ripping out your cams and putting in a new set when you hit a fixed RPM.

VTECH is much better!
