: Many who have tracked will agree that an added safety factor in the Z3s would be wise.

: But the question is: why is the decision to ban Z3s with or w/o rollbar) left to a chapter, or in many cases, a single person?

Part of the beauty of the CCA organization is that the local chapters are given a lot of lattitude to make decissions..It's not forced down thier throats...And part of the down side is that the local chapters have a lot of decresion...I guess it is a mixed blessing...But I can tell you this, if you approach the Club in a positive manner by getting involved and working with the people who make the decission my experience has been extreamly positive..That's not to say every one willbe thrilled but work with in the chapter and see what happens...You see it's easier to say no to somebody you don't even know. Be positive,be nice, it worked for me.

: Also, the cost of the rollbar may be somewhat prohibitive; I add up the components from HMS to install the Sportbar, harnessbar, gromets, replacement panel, etc, and it's about $1700. Throw in installation, and you're closer to $2500. That's a good chunk of change.

All I can tell you is that may very well be the cost to play...no body held a gun to your head when you spent 40 grand on the car...My set up cost me about $1200 complete and I figure at the rate I'm going to schools now the cost will be down to $50-75 per school by the time I retire the car...

I didn't mean to be so glib about the 40 grand comment above, sorry, but it really isn't about cost, it's about safety. And it takes a roll bar and harness system to make these great cars safer in a roll over senerio..And even though that's extreamly unlikely, you still have to prepare for it...Tom
