: I am a Canadian so maybe I see from the Canadain BMW point of view where safety for all is of primary concern.

Ryan, I'm not sure your view point is any different than mine...Sun still rises in the East and sets in the west in Canada also :)

: I was pointing out in my round about way that safety in general might be a more important issue then Z3s on the track, at 125mph any car can be very dangerous! My comment on the roll cage was that it seems that most rules that are made seem to set standards that suit the rule maker. The rol bars on P-cars are pretty much at the same hieght as out Z3, so are p-cars that much safer? And why do other clubs with good safty records allow the same Z3 on the track?

Ryan I can't answer about why other clubs do what they do...All I can address is the clubs I've worked with and the experiences I've personally had..As far as Boxters, I personally don't beleive they are any safer than the Z3 when comparing stock hoops on both cars...I can tell you I ran with 12 Boxers from the San Francisco area at Thunder Hill at an event sponcered by SCCA and with out exception they said they had the time of their life but wouldn't do it again with out more roll over protection..My perspective is that all open cars have more inhearient risk on the track in a roll over senerio, and no matter how remote that might be you still have to do some mitigative measures to make all open cars safer..That means Corvettes, Boxters, Porsche cabs, bmw convertables, etc. You have to increase the protection to the occupants if you go inverted...

Ryan I've enjoyed the discussion, but since this is getting down perty far on the board lets call it a draw for now...If you want to discuss more please Email me or post the topic further up on the board.. I respect your view point and I don't think we differ that much..Take care, Tom Bell
