A Profitable '99 Homecoming & A Great Dealer!! (archive)

I own a '97 2.8 Z3, Boston Green, with hardtop and attended Homcoming for the first time this year. As a result of the free Technical Inspection offered there at the plant, I will be getting a new rear window and a new hood! Additionally, the technicans there repaired several dings (including one I got just the previous evening) and greatly improved the locking device for the soft top. In talking with other owners there, I found out about the tape around the front window covering the original paint and got several suggestions as to how to improve the sound system of the car. Previously, over the Net, I found out about the passenger seat belt fix.

This week, I went to my BMW dealer, Capital Cities Imported Cars, Glenmont, NY (just south of Albany) to have some of the above work done as well as a normal oil change. In keeping the car for the entire day, the dealer gave me two free cars for the day (a Jetta and a VW bug - a morning and afternoon car no less). As I had 34.4K miles, I asked as to when the Inspection II was due just in passing.

When I picked up the car that afternoon, not only was all of the work done that I had requested, but they also did the Inspection II - all at NO CHARGE! Is is some dealer or not! It should be noted that I switched to Capital Cities when my original dealer, where I bought the car, went out of business. Obviously, I am quite pleased with Capital Cities thus far and highly recommend them to others.

So you can see that Homecoming '99 more than paid for itself. My thanks to Amy and Wayne for the idea of Homecoming, to the BMW personnel of South Carolina, and to those Z3 owners who were so free to offer suggestions and advice.
