It’s Hell on the Road to Utopia
but you knew that already, right?

Many many thanks to all of the dry runners, for their patience and good humor, it’s thanks to them that there will be a lot of changes. Most importantly, *~*we will be leaving earlier.*~* And meeting slightly down the road.

We will not wait. If you miss the first meet point, and you are trying to catch up, use the maps linked to the Sleepy Hollow Cruise Page, the Sleepy Hollow Cruisers phone list and the Talkabouts. We did this a lot on the dry run, so we know it works. Again, we will not wait. It’s worth it.

*~*Plan to be there by 9am to get gas, eat, visit the loo and do everything so we can leave on time at 930am. *~* No food or potty until lunch, no gas until much later.

We were lucky today to have Gadi and Laura on their motorcycle and trailer, in honor of the creators of the Z3, born of motorcycling heritage and of the nice folks at Backroads Magazine who turned me on to the morning twisties. Even luckier, Gadi will return with his 2.3 for the real cruise.

Yup, they’re twisty, I doubt anyone got pics of the roads, hee hee. Hey, dry runners, send me your pics for this page, and I will add them, OK?

Bill Z picked up this funny looking broad on the way. She said she’d ride with Bill but her heart belongs to RichC.

We accidentally lucked into peak fall foliage, everyone was trying to catch the falling leaves...

Stu (TheOx) arrived around 10am but found his front whatchamacallit dragging on the ground. Since Stu was dressed to attend the opera, Gadi helped him out and unscrewed and pulled it off. Luckily, it fit in the trunk.

So, we left late after their car repair and immediately stopped for a bathroom break which made us reeeeeaaaaaalllllyyyy late. Then I made every wrong turn I could on the way to the Utopia Deli, which we hope means that next week I will get it right. Uh huh. Until we get to the Utopia deli, everyone has to be on their toes for turns, which are now meticulously and correctly mapped, again with help from the Dry Run Cruisers.

Its only about 7 miles to Utopia if we do it right. Uh Huh.

From that point on it’s pretty freakin wonderful...

and strange things begin to happen on the road to Sleepy Hollow...

The whole days trip is about 200 miles and there is a gas stop planned at the end, at the nicest gas station I have ever been to (ask the dry runners) but no convenient gas between the start and finish, not even at lunch, so please fill up before 930am. Everyone wants to get gas in Millbrook... trust me.

OK so, I have no pics of the twisties, the roads.... by the time we reached Sleepy Hollow, Sue started to notice some changes. It started on her feet....

*~*They let us in with jeans at lunch at the castle but please try to wear something nice other than jeans.*~* It’s nice having lunch at the castle, but pretty snooty.

I asked Gadi and Laura to lead us...
This is the last time I saw Gadi and Laura- I couldn’t catch up to them:

Brian found our way back to the Taconic, and rode home to Connecticut from convenient 343.

The three greenies that were left went to dinner at Allyn’s. It was pretty great. Hot cider, roasted quail...

I couldn’t help but notice the changes in my dinner companions since they passed through Sleepy Hollow.
By this time the transformation was nearly complete.

Masks are welcome and encouraged on the Sleepy Hollow Cruise... even Emmy has one...

Hey y’all~ don’t worry about the weather, it looks like we are going to be AOK after they cold wet midweek. Weather channel has a 7 day forecast around 20 minutes after the hour and so far looks great. In case it is cold I highly recommend some silly looking headgear that will keep your head cozy. Like these great hats Sue and Bob were wearing.

The sillier the better:

I wear one of these when it’s cold:
