:the Big World of Marketing and Competition.....I owned a Datsun 240,280 and 300Z
and was disappointed after the orignial 240 which
was a capable car. Then they must of hired a FAT
ASS from FORD Engineering to kill future sales by
making them heavy and loaded with "creature comfort assessories". The Supra 300 hp. turbo was the last chance they had from Japan in sports
cars. There are a few execeptions with future
marketing: Accura NSX (too expensive), Mazda Miata. Toyoto and Nissan/Renault need to do some
serious head banging and hire some Euro types or
at least some US enthusiasts. Or did GM buy out
Japan last year and decide to end all great sports
cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 On saturday morning I was in Julian, a former gold rush town in the mountains outside of San Diego. There is a great mountian road to Highway 8 I love to drive, two lanes of very well maintained mountain road without a stop sign for 25 miles and virtually no other cars if you get there early. As I approached the last stop sign in Julian before starting my scamper down the mountain, a red S2000 pulled in front of me at the stop sign. I first pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming (what are the chances?) and then commented to myself "praise the Lord and pass the ammunition" as I turned off the traction control and the radio. Blew past him at the stop sign as expected, but was disappointed in the competition. A third of the way through the run, I could only see him occassionally in my rear view mirror trying to catch up. Too bad, I had hoped for more competition.
