Hello Brad,
I too have a 2000 Estoril MZ3. My performance mods to date consist of the following:

Dinan Chip
Dinan Intake
Custom Conical Air Filter
Supersprint Exhaust (DTM Tips)

Dinan Springs and Shocks
Dinan Strut Bar

ATE Super Blue Fluid
And Next Week...
EBC Red Stuff Brake Pads
Euro Rotors
UUC Shift Kit
UUC Tranny Mount Enforcers
UUC Clutch Stop

Of these upgrades, I would recommend starting with the suspension. The engine is a jewel and has a little more performance potential with add-ons, but for me the bigger performance benefits came from the spring/shock change. The shocks/springs helped with controlling the BMW-induced understeer and also got rid of the excessive tail-squat you see under acceleration.

On the track I quickly was shown the limitations of the stock brake pads and the continued understeer tendency of the car despite the shock/spring change. As a result, the brake pad change is happening now, and a sway-bar change will be coming as soon as UUC Motorwerks releases tubular sway bars for the M Roadster. I believe that this brake/suspension setup will have much more of an effect on lap times then any engine changes.

I am not thumbing my nose at the engine mods, I love them and would do them all, but if I was to take a phased approach at upgrades I would prioritize suspension/brakes before engine.

My $.02 - happy motoring,

: I'm a newbie to the world of MZ3's, so if my questions are too broad, my apologies... I plan on upgrading my 2000 MZ3 over the next year in 2 areas: Performance and Handling. My only real exposure has been to Dinans product line, which I'm impressed with, though not from an experts viewpoint.

: My criteria are: I'd like to get the car as quick as possible without voiding BMW's warranties/maintenance agreements and I'd like it to be competitive on the track, but still able to be driven around town (pretty vague, huh?).

: I know there is a lot that can be done to these cars, but I don't know where to start (software, exhaust, superchargers, suspension -stage I,II or II, etc.). I plan on making this somewhat of a project, so I'll provide a website with the progression in case anyone is interested.

: Thoughts?

: Any help will be greatly appreciated!
: Brad
