A strange thing happened yesterday.
My 1999 Mster had been sitting for four days (four rainy, grey days). When I started it up, there was a loud rattling noise and the engine died. For about a minute it wouldn't restart. It would turn over merrily, but the engine wouldn't catch. Finally it started but ran real rough. I had to keep goosing the throttle to keep it running. It generated a lot of white smoke out of the tailpipe.
This has happened once before, several months ago.
I've already had the following replaced: ROM update, Oxygen sensor, crank angle sensor.
I'm no mechanic, but this somehow felt like a fuel pump or fuel delivery problem. It's due to go to the dealer tomorrow. Any thoughts?
