Although it is a '97, it's new to me!!!
I bought a '97 Z3 2.8, with a windscreen, heated seats (not critical for my Houston weather, but I'm glad to have it), an alarm and a trip computer. I got it for $29700.00 at 3.9% financing. I'm a happy camper.
The car I used to drive was a '90 Ford Escort GT. Wow, what a change. Can you say Stock Options? Can you say IPO? I knew that you could! Hey guys, it's a GREAT time to be in the software business.
That daily 40-minute commute across Houston everyday just got a lot shorter. Unlike most of the people on this board, I plan to use my car a lot. No weekend drive for this baby. Gotta go to work, Z3. Gotta go to the store, Z3. Gotta go to Galveston, Z3. Don't gotta go anywhere, Z3!!! I'm not sure it's wise, but I can't imagine using any other car. If I did, I would be thinking, "I could be in my Z".
I would like to thank everyone on the board for their wisdom. I've been reading this board for about 2 months now, and I know entirely too much for a guy who has owned his car all of one day. I know about the rattle in the glove compartment. I know about the noise from the rear struts. I know about the paint chips (lots of em, by the way). I almost know too much. I already know lots of things about my car that irritate me about it, and I just got it!
Today at 9:00 PM, the kids were down for the night, and my wife was turning in early , so I took the Z out for a spin. Beautiful Houston night. 61 degrees. Great top down weather!
Now, only if our stock would go up, I could put in sway bars, new exhaust system, sound system... It's always something.
