Being a new driver, I've always insisted that I use my seatbelt, and my friends too. It turned out, that my seat belt came in use this Monday. I was driving to school going westbound. An elderly man going the opposite direction (eastbound) made a left turn without looking just as we were passing each other. I nailed the brakes, but only had 1.5-2 carlengths to stop. I didn't happen.
Luckily, I escaped fine. No injuries. My Neon was a bit smashed. The accident was the other driver's fault (I was just driving down the road minding my own business), and he was cited by the officer. Unfortunetly, he is trying to lie to his insurance agent... Sh!t happens I guess. There was nothing that I could've done to avoid it, I couldn't go left (oncoming traffic) and I couldn't go right (curb and large telephone poles).
J.D. <--- Saved by a seatbelt... Awaiting t get his Neon back from the Bodyshop.
