: I might be looking at this car as I need something to transport clients in...any feedback?

Have just shy of 6K on it, having come from a '95 318ti. The VR6 is a fantastic motor; I haven't come across anything that feels quite like it. As others have said, the fit, finish and quality are all light years ahead of VWs of old (I've owned several) and I would put it ahead of the 318ti and the Z3 as far as finish materials.

The '00 models have electronic throttle control - "drive by wire". It takes some getting used to.

The suspension sucks. IMO, shorter springs and Bilsteins are a must to make the car ride and handle appropriately. Also, my car has the 16" Goodyear RS-A tires. They hold up the car well, but do nothing else good. Better tires are also in order.

As for transporting clients, they had better be short. If there is one major downfall to the car, it is a lack of rear seat room. It isn't a problem for me, but pay close attention here.

One problem you may have is availability. The VR6 models are hard to get, and 5 speed VR6s are even harder. A silver with black leather, VR6, 5speed is the most sought after combination, and has a 6 month wait with no guarantees.

If you have any further questions, feel free to email me.
