: How does the Harmon Kardon system sound compared to the stock system, and how does the Harmon Kardon sound (bass, treble, balance, etc.). Also how much room is there in the trunk with top up and top down. Is there room enought for 2 golf bags plus a little extra room. One last question, i am trying to decide between the 2.3 and 2.8, is the bigger engine worth the price difference.

I believe the HK system was upgraded late last CY, so some of the posts in the achieve may not be applicable anymore, but you should review anyway to get the basics on BMWs systems. Conclusion I made late last year was that if I was going to put extra money into the sound system, it would be for after market components. I haven't done anything yet, for the stock system with the top up meets my audio needs (live in NE so I haven't had a top down day yet).

Top doesn't effect trunk space. Power top does effect trunk space, I believe. To answer your specific question, I was only able to get 1 golf bag in with a little extra room (I have the power top). Some (without power top) can get 2 bags in. For weekend golf trips, a luggage rack could be used. For regular day/weekend play, I use bag storage at the golf club to solve this problem.

As for the 2.3 vs 2.8. Read the archives to get more opinions, but most would make this selection between the 2.3 and the M (3.0). I drove both the 2.3 and the 2.8 in Nov. '99 when I ordered and could not justify the added $$ for the 2.8. I went with on the 2.3 and am very satisfied. If you like more top end power, and can afford it, than maybe the M is the way you should go. The added $$ is likely to be worth it.

The key here is that your buying a 'Z', you will love the ride, you'll find a way to golf, and you'll arrive in style. Good luck and enjoy!
