In Reply to: Chrome Wheels option on 2.3? posted by KevinR on February 07, 2000 at 17:04:44:

you that the chrome z-stars look great. I have these on my '99 2.3 and I like them much more than the new design!

: I am thinking about trading up my '98 Montreal blue 1.9 for a new Sienna red 2.3. However, I really think that the new 16" wheels on the 2.3 look terrible, they look like they would be more at home on an Eclipse. I am also not too crazy about the "cross-spoke" 17" wheels on the 2.8; they remind me of some BBS wheels that I had over ten years ago. I have always liked the simplicity of the 5-spoke aluminum alloys that came on my 1.9 (they are not the "Z-star" wheels),and think that similar wheels in chrome would look awesome on any Z3. My question is...does BMW offer a 5-spoke chrome wheel (or any chrome wheels, for that matter) that will fit the Z3? Since most car manufacturers, even those in the $17-20K price range, now seem to be moving towards offering chrome wheels either as standard or options on their cars, why hasn't BMW caught up with this trend? What is the point of buying the optional chrome gills if you do not have chrome wheels to match?
