I bought the M roadster on an impulse.
I was actually looking for an old E-type

But I went to BMW to look at the coupe. figured I would give the styling the benefit of an in person look before I passed judgement.

Anyway, having grown up around Jag's , when I sat in the M, listened to the tone and then drove a roadster, felt the similar great 6 cyl torque, I bought it, no shopping around, nothing.

Now I will grant you, it still doesnt sound as good as the E-type. But its close, and the interior really gave me that retro feel.
this is why I love the car. no other reason.

by the way, an old girlfriend has a 318i.
That car , even with its 4 cly, is a blast to drive. the 4 cly engine is actually fun to play with. So I will never knock a 1.9l Z3.
