You will need to drive both cars and based on your driving style make your choice.

The 1.9 is a "finesse" car. It is a little under powered but very smooth and fast when driven well. You can't cheat and use the engine to make up for deficiencies in your line. When driven well it will reward you with great handling and balance. Its top speed is limited to 119mph.

The 2.8 is more of a GT car. Its extra horsepower will cover for it's lesser handling abilities. By the way only a few drivers out there will notice the change in handling between the two cars as both handle very well. With the increase in HP you will also have a limited slip differential to get that power to the ground and vented front rotors to help with the additional braking requirements. Its top speed is limited to 128 mph.

As others have said you NEED to drive both and see for yourself which is more fun for you to drive.
