He's says he can find a 2.8 at a premium of $4k to $5k over the 1.9l. A Downing/Atlanta SC costs $3300, if you can install yourself, it's not that hard. The 1.9l would be a year newer, faster, better overall fuel economy, handle better (IMO), and it might have things like roll hoops, side airbags and such, already installed. You would have money left over for a year or 2 of insurance payments, a new exhaust or other upgrades/enhancements. But if he went for same model year, the savings would be even greater.
I put a Downing on my '96 1.9l at Christmas time, and I absolutely love this car even more than I did before! But as everyone else has said, drive them both and pick the one YOU like!
