Best solution for you is to buy a transmitter that matches your existing receiver and follow the article in MZ3.NET to install a momentary contact push button on blank next to the steering column.
When buying the transmitter, look for one which uses a 12v battery. This way you can use the +12 from the vehicle and never have to replace the transmitter battery.
The down side of the cigarette lighter or visor clip transmitters is that if stolen from the vehicle, they can be used to gain entry to the garage and that's where I keep my favorite toys.
