: I take delivery of my '00 2.3 Z3 this weekend, and I would like to get some opinions on how best to break-in the car, how long the break-in period should last, when does the engine reach optimal perfomance and longevity etc.. My '87 325e has over 150k miles on it and is still going strong - I'd like my new car to last at least that long.
: Thanks for any advice you 'seasoned' Z3'rs have to offer.

Just got mine last week, like the guy says follow the owners manual. It basically says don't go over 4500 rpm, or over 100mph for the first 1200 miles (I've got 240 on mine in a week). Vary speeds--don't go one speed/rpm as in freeway driving, shift gears if you have to maintain the same speed. Have fun! I know I am.
