You need to decide the convertible vs. coupe question first, and IMHO the hardtop available on the roadster doesn't count.

As for 2.8 roadster vs. M roadster: I couldn't be more pleased with my M. However, the M is more expensive to maintain (wheels & tires for starters and I really don't like being without a spare), it is not as forgiving of the driver's handling errors as the 2.8, it is a much harsher ride, and on the street you won't/shouldn't notice the difference in power all that much. That said, I still prefer the M. If money is a factor, you're already set up in a great car, any change from a relatively new car such as yours to another is gonna hit you in the wallet.
