I'm not sure if this is going to be praise or condemnation of Intercontinental BMW in Houston.
It was time for Inspection I for my '00 2.3, so I called Advantage BMW, which is close to home. Since I bought my car in Ft. Worth, they wouldn't offer me a loaner. Of course, they're part of the Momentum-opoly here in Space City, which gave me the same story regarding a loaner.
When I called Intercontinental and asked about a loaner, they said, "sure, no problem..." without even asking where I bought the car. So, I was sold.
When I dropped my car off, they gave me a '99 328is -- nice ride. But, my service advisor, upon finding out I didn't buy from them, told me not to expect a loaner every time. Plus, his friendliness level was on par with what I might expect if I had just walked into his office and laid a monster fart. The luster of getting the car faded with this kind of reception from the service writer.
In addition to the oil service, I told him that one of the plastic covers where foglights would go had fallen off (these are cheap-o snap-on things).
Well, when I went to pick up my car, the bill was $26.00! $6.00 for what looks like a $.39 piece of plastic and $19.50 for the labor to snap it on. I asked why they didn't just give me the part and let me snap it on.
They were rude, but said, "if $20 means something to you, then we'll change the bill."
So, while they ultimately did the right thing and removed the "labor" charge, they made me feel like a cheap bastard for calling them on what I believe was a ridiculous charge. So, I can't decide if I'm a satisfied customer or not.
Anyone else have experiences with this dealership?
PS- Cars of this type should have loaner car arrangements for service, no matter where they were purchased.
