: Since when is SPEED the only consideration in determining what is or isn't a sports car?
: An old GMC Typhoon would most likely outrun any unmodified non-M Z3. Does that make it a sports car? In fact, an F-150 SVT Lightning gets to 60 in about 5 1/2 sec. That is M Roadster territory, but no one is calling the M Roadster any less of a sports car because a truck is equally as quick.
: A Miata is one of the true-est of sports cars and it runs similar 0-60 times as the 1.9. Do BMW's have different acceleration standards to meet?
: There is much more to a sports car than 0-60 times. Whether or not you seek more speed or aggressive acceleration from your particular sports car is of little importance. The driving nature of all Z3s is sporting. You don't really have to look any further than that.
