FWIW-As an alternative to a Hill Country weekend, cosider a trip to Mena, AR via the Talimena Scenic Dr. (OK-AR). The Queen Wilhelmina State Park lodge is a neat place to stay. Beside the terrific roads as a feature there are side trips to Magazine Mtn (highest pk in AR) and Petit Jean St Park where the Rockefeller Auto Museum is located. I used to make group motorcycle sport touring rides there and still have the route maps.
Mena is about the same distance (5 1/2 hrs from D/FW) as the Hill Country. There's a nice seafood resturant, featuring catfish that's used to accomodating groups in Mena.
