My point was to Alex that 17's are not wimp wheels. I run 17's for the track on my M Roadster because 16's won't fit the larger brake rotors... and 18's are for styling, but not performing. It doesn't even look like you can get decent R Compound DOT-approved tires in 18" format. 18's only make sense if your brakes are so big they will only fit inside an 18.
